The 9th Fordingbridge Summer Festival organised by Fordingbridge Rotary took place on Saturday 15th July, although the day started with light rain drizzle this soon cleared and the day entered into another successful family fun filled Summer Festival Event.
Visiting this year for the first time “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” which thrilled the younger folks and brought back memories for all as it toured the Arena.
Then appeared another first the exciting British Heavy Horse Teams, challenging each other to clear the course, showing their amazing driving skills.
Vintage and Classic cars, Steam Engines, Landrovers, Tractors and Commercial Vintage Vehicles created a record attendance for 2017. The range and age groups on display certainly demonstrated that preservation interest is healthy.
Our local Emergency Services from Fordingbridge demonstrating and sharing with the younger folks, created much enjoyment which will be remembered.
2017 witnessed another first, the Fordingbridge “Cake Off” competition, this was an open competition for all ages from 6 years old, on display were some amazing creations, certainly very appealing and appetising. Nearby the artistic floral creations by the Fordingbridge Flower group, always interesting.
The river Avon was the scene for the now famous “Avon Duck Race” over 2000 ducks floating towards the winning line, happily all ducks were gathered in and now returned to their resting until the next time.
