Welcome to the Fordingbridge Summer Festival, a family occasion held on the edge of the New Forest, superbly located and situated by the famous River Avon. This event is enjoyed by thousands of visitors from far and wide, many travelling in their Vintage and Classic cars from across the counties of the south of England.
The Festival enjoys promoting many local Charities and Groups creating support and interest, hence generating growth for folks to enjoy a new activity in life, from Footpaths, Bowls, Camera Club, Churches and WI, including other interesting Societies and Groups.
Fordingbridge Flower Group arrangements and displays add much colour and interest to the Festival. The ever-expanding Craft Village included Hurdle, Besom Broom, Walking Sticks, Pole lathe, Wood Carving, Basket making plus many more working craft exhibits.
Vintage, Classic Cars, Vans and Motor Cycles portray many years of motoring. Tractors, Lorries, Stationary engines and implements, some still awaiting restoration, all creating the local scene of life from this rural area, plus Scale Steam Engines with Fairground Organs.
Catering outlets of every type will tempt your every taste. Trade Stands always add to the Festival flavour offering the widest range of products any one could imagine.
Enjoy visiting the Festival Tea Tent, with its wonderful English fare a sight to enjoy and certainly digest, while taking a rest and viewing the happenings from your table.
Arena attractions will include 6 pairs of Heavy Horses demonstrating many skills under the guidance of David Shering and his team, such wonderful beings shown to perfection.
Special appearance of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and team…. a must for the family.
Music is always part of the Fordingbridge Summer Festival, “Panatical” the Crestwood College Steel Band, youth creating wonderful music sound which is enjoyed across the Festival ground, along with our loyal Downton Band and well known guitarist Mike Ireland playing those well known hit songs and tunes.
New for 2017 will be the “Fordingbridge Cake Off”. This competition is for every young person attending school, many individual prizes, plus a Best Supporting School Prize.
After a winter of resting, preening and much feeding, the Festival Ducks prepare to race again. The River Avon creates the right venue for this, every Duck can be owned by someone, so look out for the Festival Duck sellers or buy online through this website.
